"I never had that essential skill of communicating well – Compelling Communication Skills changed that"

Inga Vysniauskiene explains how the course Compelling Communication Skills gave her a newfound confidence in writing and public speaking.

"When I was at school, I had a teacher who once told me I don't have a talent for writing.

"I used to write short stories, but then I stopped, and this belief that I can't use words properly was ingrained in me for almost 20 years. And then one day I came across this course, and it was truly refreshing. It was a new start for me.

"I'm the founder of the English Boutique for Business Leaders in Lithuania, where we consult with businesses and leaders in Lithuania who struggle with English at work. Before this I was a boring academic, writing confusing papers and making my audiences fall asleep."

"I didn't know how to engage my audience"

"I saw people making presentations, and I always thought how talented, how natural they are, so engaging, so memorable, so clear.

"During this course however, I realised that there is no such thing as a talent for communication. It's all about knowledge, strategies and skills, so this is what I very much hope I have built.

"In addition to those strategies, I've discovered, or I've rediscovered my unique voice. So this is my major takeaway."

"The course has done so much for my confidence. I'm not worried, I'm not anxious, and I'm not afraid to take the microphone and participate in networking events, because I know how to introduce myself and how to talk to people.

"It's not just presentation skills or writing that you're taught. You’re taught how to communicate effectively in everyday life. And you can apply it everywhere.

"I've taken quite a few other similar courses, but that was the only course that was truly practical and that has truly made a difference in my life.

"Of all my takeaways, I'd say the most important was finding your unique voice, that is our power in this age of AI. And it takes time, it takes courage, it takes work to discover it, but it's worth it."

"It wasn't easy, but it was challenging and truly rewarding"

"At first, I'd set aside six to eight hours per week for this course, but I actually needed more time, because you have to read, you have to write, rewrite, and rewrite again. Then you have to contribute to discussions, you have to work on and submit your panel assignments.

"It's manageable. If you think you can do it, you will do it. Plan your time and believe in yourself. And you will have such a supportive community in your cohort, so it will be easier and more tempting to be than not to be there.

"It was brilliant to be able to learn from other people, from that wonderful community. And I could always contact the tutors. We always got feedback and responses very quickly and they were very detailed and meticulous."
