About me
Professor Ozgur B. Akan completed his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in the USA. He conducts highly interdisciplinary theoretical and experimental research on nanoscale, molecular, neural and wireless communications, unconventional communications and the Internet of Everything.He has authored more than 280 articles (with more than 14,000 citationsand an h-index of 59). He is an IEEE Fellow, a Turing Fellow (The Alan Turing Institute, London) and received the TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) Science Award 2020.
Ozgur has been awarded the AXA Chair in Internet of Everything for 2020-2025, ERC (European Research Council) Consolidator Grant for 2014-2019 and the ERC Proof-of-Concept Grant for 2018-2019. He also received the ACM NanoCom Outstanding Milestone Award 2019, IEEE NanoTechnology Council Distinguished Lecturership 2017, TÜBİTAK Young Scientist Award 2014, Koç University Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award 2012 and 2014, IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturership 2011, IBM Shared University Research (SUR) Award 2011, IEEE Communications Society 2010 Outstanding Young Researcher Award for EMEA region, IBM Faculty Award 2008 & 2010, TÜBA (Turkish Academy of Sciences) Distinguished Young Scientist Award 2008 and TÜBİTAK-Career Award 2005.
He is acting as an Inaugural Associate Editor for IEEE Networking Letters, Associate Editor for IET Communications and Editor for Nano Communication Networks Journal (Elsevier). He also acted as a Series Editor for IEEE Communications Magazine (2018-2020), Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (2007-2017), IEEE Transactions on Communications (2013-2017), as the General Chair of IEEE INFOCOM 2017 and ACM MOBICOM 2012, and as the Steering Committee Member for IEEE INFOCOM and ACM NanoCom.
