About me

Dr David Inwald combines frontline clinical expertise with academic excellence as Consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care at Addenbrooke's Hospital and Bye-Fellow at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

After qualifying from Cambridge, David trained in adult and paediatric medicine before specialising in paediatric intensive care at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

His unique academic foundation includes a PhD in platelet physiology from University College London and MA in Medical Law and Ethics from King’s College London. This diverse background enables him to teach complex physiological concepts through real clinical applications.

As Chair of the Haemodynamics Group for SCCM/ESICM Paediatric Sepsis Guidelines and Chief Investigator of the PRESSURE clinical trial, David bridges cutting-edge research and practical patient care. His teaching spans physiology, intensive care, clinical paediatrics and medical ethics, supported by over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
