
Dr Alexandru Marcoci
About me
Dr Marcoci is an Assistant Professor of Global Risk and Resilience in the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk at the University of Cambridge and Course Director of the MPhil Global Risk and Resilience. Since 2025, he has been a UKRI Policy Fellow in the Security and Online Harms Directorate in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.
Dr Marcoci’s research portfolio includes significant contributions to methods for long-term risk management, particularly in AI and emergent technologies and systemic risks, He has published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including many publications in high-impact journals such as Nature Human Behaviour, Behavior Research Methods, and Royal Society Open Science.
Dr Marcoci has led multiple research projects at the intersection of emerging technologies, futures thinking and expert decision making, funded by prestigious sources including UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), British Academy, Open Philanthropy, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and University of Cambridge flagship AI initiative ai@cam.
